Senators Jeanne Shaheen, D-N.H., and Susan Collins, R-Maine, have introduced a bill that proposes a five-year Medicare competitive bidding delay for insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitors (CGMs).

Beyond the competitive bidding delay, the proposed bill - Diabetes Interventions Addressing Barriers to Enrollment, Technology, and Education Services Act (DIABETES Act), S. 4037 - seeks to promote diabetes education to Medicare patients via diabetes self-management, disease management, and diabetes technology training sessions, covered by Medicare.
Tom Ryan, AAHomecare president & CEO states: “Senators Shaheen and Collins have a long record of standing by the millions of Americans who use diabetes products and working to ensure they can benefit from continuing technological advances for these devices. Their new legislation is an important step forward in protecting access to these critically important products and maintaining a robust supplier infrastructure to support patients.”
If interested in asking your Senators to support and co-sponsor this legislation, AAHomecare will provide resources to this end soon.
