On November 28, 2025, CMS released a fact sheet stating that they would implement a Nationwide RID CBP for all product categories. RID stands for “Remote Item Delivery,” a competitive bidding model CMS is using for certain mail-order and shipped DMEPOS products.
This will take effect in Round 2028 of the DMEPOS CBP and include these product categories:
- class II continuous glucose monitors and insulin pumps
- urological supplies
- ostomy supplies
- hydrophilic urinary catheters
- off-the-shelf (OTS) back braces
- OTS knee braces
- OTS upper extremity braces.
According to CMS, the next round of contracts will likely start around January 1, 2028. In addition, CMS has indicated that supplier education, bidder registration, and the competitive bidding process are expected to occur prior to the anticipated contract start date.
